What We Offer
-
The Initial SAP Evaluation is the first step in the return-to-duty process following a drug and/or alcohol program violation. During this evaluation, Ohio SAP Services conducts a comprehensive professional assessment in accordance with DOT and Ohio Drug-Free Workplace regulations to better understand the circumstances surrounding the violation, substance use history, behavioral health considerations, recovery supports, and any factors that may impact safety-sensitive work responsibilities.
The evaluation includes:
Review of referral and violation information
Clinical interview and assessment
Discussion of substance use and treatment history
Review of relevant behavioral health, medical, occupational, and legal considerations
Identification of education and/or treatment recommendations, when appropriate
Explanation of next steps within the return-to-duty process
Following the evaluation, a formal SAP report and recommendations are provided to the appropriate Designated Employer Representative (DER), as required by DOT regulations.
Our approach is professional, respectful, confidential, and focused on helping individuals and organizations navigate the SAP process with clarity, accountability, and compliance.
-
The Follow-Up SAP Evaluation occurs after an individual has completed recommended education and/or treatment services identified during the Initial SAP Evaluation. This evaluation is required as part of the return-to-duty process and is used to determine whether the individual has successfully demonstrated compliance with SAP recommendations and readiness to progress within the return-to-duty process.
During the Follow-Up Evaluation, Ohio SAP Services reviews:
Documentation of completed education and/or treatment services
Compliance with previous SAP recommendations
Progress made throughout the recommendation process
Current recovery supports and ongoing accountability measures
Any additional behavioral health, substance use, or safety-related concerns relevant to return-to-duty considerations
The Follow-Up Evaluation includes a professional reassessment and review of supporting documentation to determine whether successful compliance has been demonstrated in accordance with applicable DOT regulations and/or workplace policy requirements.
Following the evaluation, a formal follow-up SAP report is provided to the appropriate Designated Employer Representative (DER), including compliance determinations and any continuing care recommendations, as required by applicable regulations.
Following a successful compliance determination, Ohio SAP Services also develops the required follow-up testing plan in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Follow-up testing recommendations are communicated directly to the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for implementation as part of the ongoing return-to-duty and safety-sensitive monitoring process.
Our approach remains professional, respectful, confidential, and focused on supporting workplace safety, long-term recovery, accountability, and successful reintegration into safety-sensitive responsibilities.
