SAP evaluations are typically required for individuals in DOT-regulated or safety-sensitive positions following:

  • A positive drug or alcohol test

  • Refusal to test

  • An adulterated or substituted drug test

  • Other DOT drug and alcohol program violations

The SAP evaluation includes a confidential clinical assessment, review of relevant history and circumstances, and discussion regarding recommendations and next steps. Following the evaluation, a formal report and recommendations are provided in accordance with DOT regulations.


Are SAP evaluations confidential?

Yes. Services are confidential and information is only released to authorized individuals or entities with appropriate consent or as required under DOT regulations.


Do you provide virtual evaluations?

Does completing the evaluation automatically return me to work?

No. The SAP process includes evaluation, recommendations, follow-up, and employer-related return-to-duty procedures. Final return-to-duty decisions are made according to DOT regulations and employer requirements.


How long does the SAP process take?

The timeline varies depending on the recommendations made during the evaluation process and each individual’s compliance with those recommendations.
